Runnin' Rebels Win Fourth Straight And Ninth In Last 10 Games With 68-50 Victory Over San Jose State

Boone brothers combine for 24 rebounds, while Dedan Thomas Jr. leads all scorers with 18 points Saturday night at Thomas & Mack Center.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team won its fourth straight game and ninth in its last 10 outings with a 68-50 victory over San Jose State on Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Dedan Thomas Jr. led all scorers with 18 points, while Luis Rodriguez scored 15 points for UNLV (18-10, 11-5). Kalib and Keylan Boone each recorded game highs of 12 rebounds, while Rodriguez grabbed nine.

The Spartans (9-21, 2-15) were led by Alvaro Cardenas' 17 points and Myron Amey Jr.'s eight rebounds.

FIRST HALF DEFENSE: UNLV held San Jose State to just 20% from the field (5 of 25) in the first half, including 2 of 12 (16.7%) on 3-pointers. The Runnin' Rebels held a 33-18 lead at halftime.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV recorded 13 offensive rebounds, turning those into 15 second-chance points.

REGULAR-SEASON SWEEPS: It marked UNLV's fourth regular-season sweep this season. The others: New Mexico, Fresno State and Wyoming.

OTHER NOTES:
- It was UNLV's 11th Mountain West win of the season, marking the first time it has won at least 11 conference games since 2019-20.
- UNLV improved to 47-8 all-time against San Jose State, 23-3 against the Spartans at home and has won 12 of its last 14 against SJSU.
- UNLV led by as many as 22 points with just under three minutes remaining in the game.
- UNLV out-rebounded SJSU 44-28.
- UNLV recorded a season-high-tying 10 blocks with four apiece by the Boone brothers.
- Kalib scored nine points with three assists and Keylan had five points.
- Rodriguez shot 4 of 8 from the field, made all six of his free-throw attempts and recorded two steals.
- UNLV finished the game shooting 40.7% (22 of 54), while holding SJSU to 32.1% (17 of 53).
- UNLV continues to be without Jalen Hill, who is out of the rest of the season (ACL).
- UNLV has made at least one 3-pointer in a NCAA-record 1,221 straight games.
