RENO, Nev. (UNLVrebels.com) – Coming off the loss on Saturday, the UNLV baseball team (13-10, 3-6 MW) took the field one more time this weekend against UNR (10-11, 6-3 MW) on Sunday. The final game in part one of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union fell in favor of UNR, the Rebels falling on a final score of 10-5.
After
Kade Higgins sent a well-placed ball to the outfield to open up the scoring for UNLV,
Austin Kryszczuk emerged as the team's top scorer of the contest, driving in two RBIs in the game in his four at bats. The graduate student picked up two hits in the contest, pushing a two-RBI double in the top of the sixth inning to bring in Higgins and
JP Hefft. His other hit came in the other inning the Scarlet & Gray scored in, placing a single through the left side in the top of the eighth inning to move
Isaac Rodriguez to third.
Eventually in the aforementioned inning,
Bailey Seeger would pop a single to center field to score in Kryszczuk, one of the Rebels two other scorers in the contest.
Alex Pimentel would drive in the program's only other run for a total of five as a team, his grounder to the first basemen in that eighth inning being just far enough for Rodriguez to score from third base.
Matthew Maloney finished the pitching staff's outing as the only thrower to keep UNR from scoring, closing out the final two innings of the game. The senior right hander struck out two batters in his outing, both swinging and one in each inning of work.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Maloney's work on the mound marked his seventh outing of the season not allowing a run, pitching two or more innings in three of those games.

- Higgins' two hits in the contest marked the junior's fourth multi-hit performance in the last six games.
- The Rebels have extended their run streak to 177-straight games of avoiding being shut out, dating back to the 2020 season.
