Entered the Rebel bullpen as the team's closer, appearing in 24 games over the course of the season for 37.2 innings ... Collected four saves for the Scarlet & Gray, including one where Maloney closed the final 1.2 innings of the contest and held UC Riverside scoreless into the 13-7 win ... Orange Coast College (2020-22)
Maloney was named the Pitching MVP of the California Collegiate League in the summer of 2022 following a stellar season  … In 37 innings, Maloney posted a 0.24 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and struck out 58 opposing hitters … The California Collegiate League is typically littered with talent, featuring notable alumni Kris Bryant, CJ Cron, Kevin Gausman, Andrew Vaughn, and more … D1Baseball describes Maloney’s pitch repertoire as a “confusion-making cutter and a devastating knuckle-curve” … At Orange Coast College, Maloney made the transition from being a catcher to getting on the mound … In sixteen appearances for the Pirates, Maloney posted a 2-2 record with six saves and 37 strikeouts … Each of his first 14 games were out of the bullpen before making two starts to end the year … In two starts, Maloney fanned 14 hitters with a season-high eight strikeouts on April 23 versus Riverside.

Maloney is a Huntington Beach, California native, who is the son of Dave and Angela Maloney … He has two older sisters, Alex and Katie, who both reside in Arizona … Maloney comes from an athletic family. His mother, Angela, pitched at Riverside City College, while his grandfather, Jim Ulam, played football at the University of Miami … Maloney graduated with honors and a 3.9 GPA from Ocean View High School … A four-year member of the baseball program, Maloney was a Second Team All-League selection in 2019.
