LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Three UNLV women's golf individuals played their way into the top 25 through Monday's first two rounds of The Show at Spanish Trail Country Club (Par 72, 6,537 yards).
Senior
Madeleine Laux (74-72), who leads all players competing as individuals only in a tie for 16th, had the top score among all Rebels with a day-one 2-over that included a second-round even-par 70. Headlining the scorecard for the Scarlet & Gray lineup, graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (76-72) - one of three Rebels to shoot par or better in the second round - and junior
Toa Yokoyama (73-75) ended the day in a tie for 23rd at 4-over.
Adding to the list of Rebel scorers shooting par or better in the afternoon's final 18 holes,
Thienna Huynh shot a second-round 1-under 71 and sits in a tie for 56th at 9-over for the tournament. The remaining UNLV golfers in the field include junior
Hina Matsui (+13) tied for 69th playing as an individual, junior
McKenzi Hall (+15) in 72nd, senior
Morgan Goldstein in 73rd competing as an individual and junior
Mayumi Umezu (+19) in 75th.
Taking the lead into the third round, UCLA stands in first at 2-under, while the Bruins' Zoe Campos (68-70) also holds the top spot in the individual standings at 6-under.
