LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Led by a pair of par-or-better scores Tuesday, the UNLV women's golf team jumped three spots in the team standings to finish 10th in The Show, co-hosted by the Rebels and Furman at Spanish Trail Country Club (Par 72, 6,537 yards).
Leading the final-round charge, junior
McKenzi Hall carded a 2-under 70 and sophomore
Thienna Huynh added an even-par 72. The Rebel duo combined for seven birdies on the day.
The top Scarlet & Gray finisher was senior
Madeleine Laux (+5) with a tied-for-21st finish competing as an individual. Representing the Rebel lineup, graduate student
Maria Jose Martinez (+8) and junior
Toa Yokoyama (+8) tied for 31st, Huynh (+9) tied for 37th after climbing 22 spots up the leaderboard, Hall moved up 10 positions to tie for 52nd and junior
Mayumi Umezu tied for 69th. As a team, UNLV's (+36) final-round score of 4-over marked the squad's best day of the tournament.
Also playing as individuals, senior
Gracie Olkowski (+12) had a team-best 10 birdies over the two-day event in a tied-for-49th finish, junior
Hina Matsui (+14) tied for 52nd and
Morgan Goldstein (+21) tied for 69th.
Finishing as the tournament's co-champions, UCLA and SMU each finished at 6-under 858 through 54 holes. Earning medalist honors, the Bruins' Zoe Campos recorded a winning-score of 7-under 209.
