RENO (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team closed its regular season with a 4-3 loss to in-state rival UNR Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Tennis Center. The match was part of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union but no points will be awarded until after the postseason tournament.

The Rebels fell to 8-11 overall and finished 1-4 in league action while the Wolf Pack improved to 6-14 and 2-4.

The visitors won the doubles point in dramatic fashion. Taiyo Hirano and Illia Maksymchuk blanked their opponents, 6-0, at the second position before the Pack drew even with a victory at the top of the lineup. On court three, Dusan Rsovac and Thomas Thomas Navarro trailed 5-4 but won the final three points to give their team a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Rsovac retired early because of injury to tie things up. Maksymchuk rolled to victory, 6-0, 6-0, over Loris Zisswiller at No. 2 and then Hirano closed out Greg Valente, 6-0, 6-1, on court six to make it 3-1 Rebs. UNR, however, rallied to tale the final three matches in straight sets and earn the win.
