LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV volleyball team wrapped up its second home invitational on Saturday afternoon, matching up with North Texas as the third and final game of the Dig in the Desert Invite. The Rebels hopped back on their winning ways in dominant fashion, collecting the program's third sweep of the season.
The Scarlet & Gray (5-2) took down the Mean Green (2-7) by a score of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17, the defense holding North Texas to a .097 attacking percentage for the lowest mark the Rebels have held a team in a single game so far this season. UNLV held a steady offense of at least .210 or higher every set, ending the match on a hitting percentage of .237.
The Rebels registered 15 total blocks in the match,
Jordyn Freeman owning the team's lone solo block in the game while also earning three block assists. That solo block marked the middle blocker with the 50th of her Rebel career, moving her up to tied ninth all-time in UNLV history.
Rheanna Deen-Jackson totaled her third game of the season with four or more total blocks with a quad of assists on Saturday,
Alondra Alarcon with a career-high at three.
UNLV's defense also totaled its highest digs per set average so far this season at a 16.3 rate,
Caleigh King leading the charge with 13 overall alongside a career-high four service aces. Alarcon also earned a second career-high in the match, this time in digs, earning 12 of the team's 49.
Arien Fafard shuffled 18 set assists off of the Rebels' digs and receptions,
Olivia Mikkelsen totaling 12 for a team total of 33.
The Scarlet & Gray's attack held two student-athletes with a team-high 10 kills in the match, Freeman and
Dakota Quinlan doubling up for the bulk of the program's 42 kills. Deen-Jackson followed closely behind with seven of her own, posting the highest attacking percentage of student-athletes who appeared in all three sets with a .375 mark.
Gabrielle Arretche-Ramos,
Chloe Thomas and Alarcon each tallied four kills in the match.

The Rebels will host the Hawai'I Rainbow Wāhine for a Tuesday-night showdown next week, facing off on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The two programs will fight head-to-head in Cox Pavilion for their annual Polynesian Night match, hosting a tailgate and several food trucks, games and live performances prior to the match. The first serve is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
