LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's soccer suffered its first home loss of the season in a 3-2 defeat to Kansas City Thursday night at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
A pair of first-half goals from
Gabe Sanchez in the 33rd minute and Claudio Lopez Alós in response to an early one-goal deficit gave the Rebels (3-4) an advantage after the first 45 minutes. Their goals managed to keep UNLV in the contest, but the Roos (4-2-2) scored two unanswered goals in the second half that proved the difference.
STAT OF THE GAME: The KC goals were an outlier against recent solid defensive play by the Scarlet & Gray, which hadn't allowed a goal in nearly two weeks across 214 consecutive minutes on the pitch entering the match.
UP NEXT: The Rebels next host Cal State Fullerton in one week on Thursday, September 26, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at UNLVTickets.com or by calling 702-739-3267.
NOTES:
- Following Sanchez's and Lopez's scores, the Rebels have now started the year with goals in seven consecutive contests.
