LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football, which has won its first four games of a season for the first time since America's Bicentennial, is ranked by the Associated Press for the first time as a Division I program, coming in at No. 25 on Sunday.
Â
The Rebels also held steady at No. 23 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
Â
UNLV opened Mountain West play by defeating Fresno State 59-14 on Saturday, marking the most points in program history vs. a league opponent in a regulation game. Earlier in the season, second-year head coach Barry Odom's squad became the first non-conference team in history to win more than one game in the same season at Big 12 Conference opponents (won at Houston and at Kansas).
Â
UNLV, which was ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation as a member of the NCAA Division II, moved up to Division I in 1978.
Â
The Rebels will close out their non-conference slate on Friday at home vs. Syracuse. Kickoff time at Allegiant Stadium is 6 p.m. Single-game and three-game mini-plans are available by visiting unlvtickets.com or calling (702) 739-FANS.
