SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's soccer team dropped its Friday night tilt at UC Santa Barbara by a 4-1 final tally at Harder Stadium.
The Rebels (1-3) managed to avoid the shutout against the Gauchos (3-1) with a 73rd minute goal by senior
Nico Lopez in their second straight match vs. an opponent either ranked or receiving votes in the national top-25 polls. In spite of the late score, however, the Scarlet & Gray couldn't overcome UCSB's four straight goals in the contest's first 66 minutes.
In the second half, the Scarlet & Gray attempted to close the gap with eight of its nine shots for the match, but the Gauchos also had eight shot attempts in the final 45 minutes of action to finish with a 17-9 advantage in overall targets.
QUOTABLE: "Credit to Santa Barbara tonight. We faced another top team on the road and are learning lessons the hard way. We need to improve and that's on me. Win or lose, as always, we will look at the game, learn what we can from it and keep moving forward."

UP NEXT: The Rebels will look to regroup as it plays at CSU Bakersfield Wednesday at 7 p.m. to conclude its current four-game road trip.
