SAN DIEGO, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to San Diego State at Peterson Gym Saturday afternoon. The Aztecs (11-6, 6-0 MW) won the Mountain West match over the Rebels (8-8, 2-4 MW) with set scores of 25-21, 27-25, 25-21.
UNLV outhit SDSU by 172 points (.180 to .108), and had seven fewer errors (16-23), but the home team had one more kill (35-34) and 11 more total attacks (111-100). The hosts hit .050 in both the first and second sets and upped its percentage to .258 in the third and final frame. The Scarlet & Gray posted a match-best .344 clip in the third set and .114 in the second set and .901 in the first set.
REBEL OF THE GAME: Rheanna Deen-Jackson recorded seven block assists and one solo block along with six digs while hitting .455.
REBEL NOTES: Libero Caleigh King posted 11 digs to reach 818 career digs and is 22 digs away from joining the program's top ten career digs list. Alondra Alarcon recorded a team-high 10 kills along with six digs, while Jaida Harris chipped in eight kills, nine digs, four total blocks (three block assists, one solo block) and two service aces.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will return home to host New Mexico on Thursday, Oct. 16 (6:30 pm) and San Diego State on Saturday, Oct. 18 (1 pm).
