LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – Anthony Colandrea is the first UNLV quarterback to win three Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week awards in a career as the league announced its honors list Monday.
The junior transfer from Virginia – who was also named in back-to-back weeks on Sept. 1 and 8 -- managed to pull off the feat in a span of just two months. The last Rebel signal-caller to earn three player of the week honors in any conference was Las Vegas native
Jon Denton while competing in the WAC in 1996 and '97.
Against Air Force on Saturday, Colandrea (St. Petersburg, FL) recorded the most passing yards by a Rebel since 2018 with 361 on 20-of-32 passing with no turnovers. In the third quarter he connected with
DaeDae Reynolds for an 86-yard touchdown that was the third-longest pass play in school history and the longest ever against a conference opponent. Colandrea also rushed 62 yards, including a pair of touchdowns. He opened the day's scoring with a three-yard rush and ended it with a game-winning, 19-yard scramble to the end zone on third down with 36 seconds remaining.
This also marks the first time that UNLV has earned more than two MW Offensive Player of the Week nods in one season as Colandrea became the seventh overall winner from the school after just six games in 2025.
First-place UNLV, which is off to a 6-0 start for the first time since 1974, heads into a showdown at Boise State on Saturday at 12:30 pm PT on FS1. The next home game is Nov. 1 vs. New Mexico at noon.
