Snitari First Rebel To Earn All-America Status Since 2002

ORLANDO (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men's tennis star Ilia Snitari remained undefeated as a collegian and earned All-America status with his second-round win Wednesday at the NCAA Division I Singles Championship being staged at the USTA National Campus.

Ranked 83rd, Snitari improved to 12-0 this fall and 20-0 as a Rebel by ousting Eli Stephenson of Kentucky, who was seeded 9-16, in three sets, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-3. The sophomore from Moldova moves into the Round of 16 at the national event after becoming the sixth All-American in program history and first since Rebel Thomas Schneiter won his first two rounds in 2002.

Snitari will next face eighth-seeded Ozan Baris of Michigan State, who was a 6-2, 7-5 winner in his second round match. That contest will take place on Thursday. Live scoring of the tournament is available HERE, while live streaming of every match is being shown on ESPN+.
