LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball team (11-12, 5-7) was defeated 71-62 by Boise State (16-7, 8-4) on Tuesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE: UNLV used a 6-0 run, ignited by its defense, to trim Boise State's lead to 56-52 with 4:57 to play. The run was made up of three straight steals, leading to three straight dunks. The Broncos, however, pushed their lead back to nine with 1:26 to play.

STAT OF THE GAME: UNLV shot just 1 of 16 on 3-pointers, including 0 of 9 in the second half.

QUOTABLE: "Against a good team like Boise, we had a couple of lapses that ended up costing us. They did a good job of making us pay. Our confidence is rattled and we were a little hesitant. We just need that spark and it is going to turn things for the better. When we were aggressive, when we made plays for each other, when we attacked the rim, when we did what we needed to do defensively, sliding and staying in front and knowing what each other wanted to do, we had some really good possessions. But just a couple of possessions with offensive rebounds and a good play made here or there is what made the difference for them." - UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger
