Lady Rebels Defeat Utah State 89-51 In Only Meeting This Season

Meadow Roland led UNLV for the second straight game, putting up 16 points

LOGAN, Utah (UNLVRebels.com) – Four Lady Rebels scored in double-digits as UNLV defeated Utah State 89-51 on Wednesday night at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. This was the only meeting between the two programs this season.
 
Meadow Roland was the leading scorer for the Scarlet & Gray (18-5, 10-1 MW) with 16 points and only missed one shot on the night going 8-for-9 from the field. Roland was also tied for the team-lead with seven rebounds and blocked two shots. McKinna Brackens put up 14 points against the Aggies and also brought down seven boards. Kiara Jackson dished a team-lead seven assists and had two steals on the night.
 
The Aggies (2-20, 1-9 MW) were led by Taliyah Logwood who had 14 points. Mia Tarver was the second-leading scorer with eight points. Jamisyn Heaton led Utah State in rebounds with six, which included three offensive and three defensive.
 
TURNING POINT: The Lady Rebels held a three-point lead after the first 10 minutes of play at 15-12. The Aggies cut the deficit to one, 17-16, with 7:32 left to play before the half. UNLV started to get into its groove and with 5:56 in the second quarter to play, the Scarlet & Gray started their 16-3 scoring run to go up by double-figures, 37-1, and never looked back.
 
OTHER NOTES:
  • Amarachi Kimpson drained 13 points while Aaliyah Alexander had 10 points, respectively.
  • Alexander also had six rebounds along with Alyssa Brown.
  • Elli Guiney had a career-night in points (eight), rebounds (two) and steals (two). Guiney played 6:31 minutes and made an immediate impact off the bench.
  • Teagan Colvin also had a career-high in rebounds with four, which included two offensive and two defensive.
  • The Lady Rebels had 52 rebounds against the Aggies, which is the second most this season.
  • UNLV only allowed Utah State to score eight points in the second quarter.
  • The Lady Rebels dominated the paint and scored 48 of their 89 points in the paint.
  • UNLV's bench out-scored Utah State's bench 38-28.
  • The Scarlet & Gray moved to 33-4 over Utah State in the all-time series.
