LAS VEGAS (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV women's track & field team will compete in the third of their four indoor regular season meets this weekend, traveling north to Spokane, Wash., for the Riverfront Invite & Combined Events meet. The meet will be held at The Podium, hosted by Spokane Sports.
Â
The Rebels will be in familiar territory, this weekend being the second-consecutive indoor season the program has competed at The Podium. Last season the team had several top-three finishes in both track & field events, Kennedi Porter picking up the runner-up spot in the women's 200m and a third-place performance in the 60m, Grace Cunningham slotting herself third overall in the women's high jump.
Â
This year though the Scarlet & Gray will travel 23 student-athletes from the roster, the meet stretching from Thursday, Feb. 6 through Saturday, Feb. 8. Freshman Jada Lujan will kick the Rebels off on day one with her first collegiate women's pentathlon, her first of the events being the women's pentathlon 60m hurdles at 12:30 p.m. PT.
Â
UNLV will have several student-athletes competing three events total, including Leah Okuda, Claire Rands, Kennedi Porter, AnnaKay Maitland, Jayda Bushay, Malika Mashack, Jaydea Carter and Paityn Neely. The women's 60m and 60m hurdles are both set as prelim-final events on Saturday, the 200m and 400m both holding different "invite" and "collegiate" events.
Â
The Rebels are seeded with a handful of top-four spots in the field events, Krishna Jayasankar representing UNLV in the women's shot put at fourth and freshman Juliana Roberson seeded fourth in the women's triple jump.Â
