LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV baseball sophomore Carson Lane has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.

Lane has earned the recognition for the first time this season and also the Hustlin' Rebels' first of the year.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.

Originally from Huntington Beach, California, Lane pitched the first UNLV no-hitter since 2003 in eight innings of work vs. Fresno State. In the Hustlin' Rebels' 9-0 victory over the Bulldogs, he threw nine strikeouts and only gave up three walks. The right hander threw a career-high 108 pitches, marking the first time in his career he's thrown over 100 pitches in a single start.

Additionally, he was named both the College Baseball Federation NCAA DI National Pitcher of the Week and Mountain West Pitcher of the Week.
