SAN MARCOS/AUSTIN, Texas (UNLVrebels.com) – The UNLV women's track & field team closed out the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invite on Saturday afternoon with multiple personal-best performances.
DAY THREE
The UNLV women's track & field team ended their stay at the Texas hosted 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Texas State hosted Bobcat Invite & Multis. The third and final day saw
Krishna Jayasankar make a significant mark in the shot put at the Texas Relays, finishing sixth with a throw of 15.87m (52' 0.75"). Her performance not only earned her a spot in the top six but also secured her place as the 5th-best performer in UNLV outdoor history.
In the discus throw, UNLV's Roxene Simpson threw 49.43m (163' 9"), claiming ninth overall. The women's 200m featured Kennedi Porter, who finished ninth with a time of 23.41. Moreover, Porter placed seventh among collegiates. Rounding out the Texas Relays was Grace Cunningham, who placed sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.73m (5' 8").
The Bobcat Invite saw Erin Thompson deliver her season best in the high jump, clearing 1.56m (5' 1.25") to finish 31st overall. In the triple jump, Juliana Roberson made an impressive leap of 12.04m (39' 6"), finishing 17th overall. The final event of the day for UNLV's athletes at the Bobcat Invite was the 4x400m relay, where Malika Mashack, Sadia Green, Gabriella Caldwell and Kaelin Gowdy teamed up to finish fifth with a time of 3:46.71.
DAY TWO
The UNLV women's track & field team opened day two of the Texas hosted 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Texas State hosted Bobcat Invite & Multis. The day started at the Texas Relays with the 4x100m relay team of
Jayda Bushay,
Kennedi Porter,
AnnaKay Maitland and
Jaydea Carter, who finished 18th with a time of 45.82.
In the 100m hurdles Carter delivered another strong showing, tying for 14th with a time of 13.61. The 100m saw Porter finish 20th with a time of 11.68. Additionally, AnnaKay Maitland competed in the timed final, placing 27th with a mark of 12.15, followed closely by Sadie Green in 60th at 12.49. Bushay rounded out the event in 67th with a time of 12.77.
Over in San Marcos at the Bobcat Invite, the 1500m was a solid event for the Rebels. Claire Rands ran a stellar race, crossing the line in 22nd place with a personal best time of 4:43.85. Alana Sangprasit and Breanna Blanks also set personal records, finishing 38th and 40th, respectively, with times of 4:54.63 and 4:55.23. Jaida Lyles set a season best with her 41st place finish, clocking in at 4:55.81. Leah Okuda also competed in the event, finishing 52nd with a time of 5:04.91. The 400m hurdles saw Paityn Neely finish 38th with a time of 1:06.30.
DAY ONE
The UNLV women's track & field team opened a pair of three-day meets out in the Lone Star State on Thursday night, hosted by the Texas State (Bobcat Invite & Multis) and the University of Texas (97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays).
At the Bobcat Invite, Kaelin Gowdy crossed the line with a 400m first place showing of 57.80. Malika Mashack and Kaitlynn Webbe also competed in the 400m, finishing seventh with a time of 59.90 and 20th with a time of 1:03.08, respectively. The 100m saw Gabriella Caldwell finish seventh with a time of 12.18, while Sadie Green followed up with a season-best 12.31 to finish 11th. In the 200m, Caldwell finished 15th with a season-best time of 24.84, while Green also posted a season-best mark of 25.15 to take 27th.
In the 800m, Claire Rands posted a 22nd-place finish in 2:16.65. Leah Okuda, Alana Sangprasit and Jaida Lyles followed up with 50th, 59th, and 60th positions, with times of 2:20.00, 2:24.13, and 2:24.49, respectively. In the field events, Krishna Jayasankar put together a strong performance in the discus throw to qualify for the finals, securing a seventh place throw of 43.01m (141-01). Additionally, Natalie Ruiz competed at the Clyde Littlefield Relays where she ran a 16:51.57 in the 5,000m to finish 13th overall.
