Al Green To Join UNLV Men's Basketball Program

Former top-25 junior college player originally from Sacramento, California, is transferring to the Runnin' Rebels from Louisiana Tech University.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball program has received a signed commitment from Al Green to join the Runnin' Rebels for the 2025-26 season, head coach Josh Pastner announced Sunday.

Green, who is a 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pound guard, originally from Sacramento, California, is transferring to UNLV from Louisiana Tech University where he played as a junior during the 2024-25 season. Prior to La. Tech, he spent two seasons at San Diego City College, where he was ranked as the No. 25 player in the country by JucoRecruiting. He prepped at Franklin High School in Elk Grove, California.

"Al is a tremendous addition to our program, bringing not only skill but also a strong competitive spirit," Pastner said. "His scoring ability and experience at the collegiate level will be crucial for us. Al's leadership on and off the court aligns perfectly with the culture we are building here at UNLV. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Runnin' Rebel family and look forward to seeing his impact on our program."

Last season at La. Tech, Green played in 30 games, making 10 starts and averaging 10.2 points per game. He scored in double figures in 14 games, including three 20-point performances and led the Bulldogs in scoring in eight games.

He had the sixth-highest offensive rating (122) in Conference USA, which was the ninth-best rated conference in the country this past season, and he was the league's top 3-point shooter in conference-only games (16) at 48% (36 of 75). In La. Tech's top five games against the best competition, Green was 13 of 22 from 3-point range (59%).

Overall, he was seventh in CUSA in 3-point shooting percentage and made at least four 3-pointers in a game, six times. Additionally, he set a program record for points in a CUSA Tournament game with 28 against Middle Tennessee.

At SDCC, he helped the Knights achieve a 26-5 record during his sophomore year, earning First Team All-PCAC honors with averages of 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He ranked third in steals and scored a season-high 28 points in the state quarterfinals. As a freshman, he earned First Team all-PCAC and First Team PCAC All-Freshman honors, averaging 14.4 ppg.

Green joins Mason Abittan, Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn, Tyrin Jones and Emmanuel Stphen as incoming players to the Runnin' Rebel program for the 2025-26 season. James Evans Jr. and Jacob Bannarbie have also committed to return to the program from last season's roster.
