LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team earned a 3-1 rubber match victory against New Mexico in the regular season finale. The Rebels (24-25, 7-15 MW) collected the final three-game Mountain West series 2-1 over the Lobos (21-30-1, 6-15 MW). Following the conclusion of the game, the Rebels honored seniors
Karmyna Becerra,
Ariana Martinez,
Sofia Morales and
Destinee Noury.

The Scarlet & Gray took an early 3-0 lead after the first two innings and held off the Lobos until the top of the fourth inning. UNLV had a combined seven hits on the day from seven different Rebels.
Bri Williams hit a two-run blast in the bottom of the second inning.
Yanina Sherwood went the distance for her 12th complete game of the season and moved to a 13-8 overall record.
HOW IT WENT DOWN: In the bottom of the first inning,
Ariana Martinez got things started with a double to center. With one out,
Karmyna Becerra traded places with Martinez to get UNLV on the board 1-0. The Rebels tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run homer by
Bri Williams, 3-0. In the top of the fourth inning, the Lobos got on the board on an RBI infield single to get within two, 3-1. The Lobos were able to get runners in scoring position in the top of the sixth inning, but on the final out, Martinez made a diving catch in foul territory to retire the side. In the top of the seventh inning, the Rebels retired the Lobos in order to hold onto the victory and collect the series.
