UNLV (2-0), which received votes in both the AP and Coaches' preseason polls, returns home to host UCLA (0-1) on Saturday with an early evening kickoff on CBS Sports Network ... The Rebels are coming off a 38-21 victory at Sam Houston last Friday while the Bruins fell at home to Utah, 43-10, in their season-opener ... The Rebels, who are the first team in MW history to improve their win total four consecutive seasons, are also the first program in FBS history (1978) to improve in four straight seasons by multiple victories (finished with 0 in 2020, 2 in '21, 5 in '22, 9 in '23 and 11 last fall) ... To become just the fourth program in FBS history to improve their win total in five straight years, UNLV will have to  do it with a largely new cast as the Scarlet & Gray entered 2025 with the fewest returning starters in the FBS with just two (RB Jai'Den "Jet" Thomas on offense and LB
Marsel McDuffie on defense) ... UNLV has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 24 regular-season games. That's the second-longest active such streak in the FBS, behind only Memphis (38 straight) ... With a second straight 2-0 start to the campaign, the Rebels improved to 9-2 (82%) since the start of 2023 vs. non-conference opponents after going 19-45 (30%) during the previous 17 years since college football moved to a 12-game season in 2006 ... The Rebels sit second in the nation with five interceptions on the young season. Since the beginning of 2022, UNLV's defense has 54 picks, which is the most in the FBS during that span (Texas is second with 48) ... Offensively, the Rebels have not committed more than one turnover in 16 consecutive games, which is the longest such streak in MW history.

Despite the two campuses standing just 283 miles apart, UNLV and UCLA have met only twice on the football field as the Bruins won both ends of a home-and-home series a decade ago ... UNLV is scheduled to return this game at the Rose Bowl on Sept. 6, 2031 ... UCLA is the second-closest FBS school to Las Vegas with USC being just a handful of miles closer ... The Rebels have played five schools that were members of the Big Ten Conference at the time of the game and have a 2-16 record in those outings ... The most recent Big Ten team to face the Rebels was Michigan in 2023 and the last one to play at UNLV was Minnesota in 2012 ... UCLA Director of Football Operations Ryan McNamee served in the same role at UNLV in 2019.
