Men's Tennis Tames Ranked Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) – The 74th-ranked UNLV men's tennis team got back in the win column with a 4-1 triumph over former Big West Conference rival and 75th-ranked Pacific at the Zimmerman Tennis Stadium on Friday afternoon. Â

The Rebels, now of the Mountain West, improved to 6-3 while the Tigers, now of the West Coast Conference, fell to 4-4.

UNLV quickly won two doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead. Illia Maksymchuk and Marko Maksimovic downed Jony Geisen and Terence Das, 6-1, at the second spot before Michael Kouame and Ty Hirano defeated Nico Rating and Zhora Chetverukhin, 6-3, on court three.

In singles, All-American Ilia Snitari, ranked 50th, swept Geisen, 6-4, 6-2, at the top of the lineup to improve to 19-2 this season; Maksimovic downed Christof Coffey, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2; and Kouame defeated Rating, 6-3, 6-2, on court four to clinch it.
