LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team earned two run-rule victories on day three of the Rebel Classic on Saturday at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels (6-8) run-ruled Idaho State (6-7) 14-6 in six innings and held Merrimack (0-3) off the board with an 8-0 five inning victory.

The Rebels out-hit their opponents 18-10 through two games and only allowed six runs.
Lauren Fettic collected both victories in the circle and did not allow a run in her combined 7.2 innings of work.
Rachel Cook led the UNLV offense through two games hitting a combined .600 (3-for-5) which included a double, two walks, two RBI and scored three runs for the Rebels.
Charelle Aki was 4-for-7 on the day, and all four of her hits were doubles. Aki led the squad with a combined six RBI.

GAME 1: UNLV 14, Idaho State 6 (6 innings)

In the bottom of the first inning, the Rebels jumped out front 3-0 after taking advantage of three Bengals' errors and a double to right center by
Charelle Aki. UNLV's bats stayed hot and in the second inning after a two-out double by
Taryn Calderon and a walk by
Rachel Cook,
Keyannah Chavez brought them both in after a double to left center. In the bottom of the third inning,
Maddie Scott hit an RBI single up the middle to give UNLV a 6-0 lead. In the top of the fourth inning, Idaho State answered back to tie the game 6-all after tallying seven hits. That didn't scare the Rebels, as they answered with a six-run inning of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning with four hits including a solo homer by
Diamond Sefe and another double by Aki, which made it 12-6. In the bottom of the sixth inning, with two-outs Calderon and Cook drew back-to-back walks. The Rebels then took advantage of two wild pitches to score a run, 13-6.
Keyannah Chavez then drew a walk of her own, and on another Idaho State wild pitch, UNLV scored to give them the run-rule victory.Â

GAME 2: UNLV 8, Merrimack 0 (5 innings)

The first inning was scoreless on both sides, but the Scarlet & Gray again jumped out front first. In the bottom of the second inning, UNLV scored three runs on two hits and took advantage of a Merrimack error to go ahead 3-0. In the bottom half of the third,
Bri Williams led things off with a walk. Aki then doubled to right center bringing in a run which made it 4-0. Sefe then followed with a single to right center scoring another run, 5-0. With one out and runners in scoring position,
Lyla Gonzalez roped a triple to give UNLV a 7-0 lead. Gonzalez then scored on a passed ball to make it 8-0. The next inning was scoreless and in the top of the fifth with two outs, the Warriors were able to get a runner on. However,
Lauren Fettic sat down the next batter with a looking strikeout.

OTHER NOTES:
- Chavez and Sefe both hit .500 on the day.
- Chavez was 3-for-6 which included a double, two RBI and crossed the plate twice for UNLV.
- Sefe was 2-for-4 including a solo homer against the Bengals.
- Fettic had a career-high night in the circle against Merrimack only allowing one hit, struck out six batters and pitched all five innings.
- Aki is now on a six-game hitting streak and has reached base in eight consecutive games.
- Cook is now on a five-game hitting streak and an eight-game reached base streak.
- Calderon has now reached base safely in seven straight games.
UP NEXT: UNLV will close out the Rebel Classic on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. against Merrimack.
