TEMPE, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team was unable to put together a rally and fell 8-0 in five innings against Wisconsin on the final day of the ASU/GCU Invitational at Farrington Stadium.

Charelle Aki and
Lyla Gonzalez led the Rebels' (9-11) offense, both going 1-for-2 at the plate.
Taryn Calderon also had a hit on the day against the Badgers (13-6).
Bri Williams reached base twice, after being hit both times at the plate.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: In the bottom of the first inning, the Badgers scored two runs on three hits to take an early 2-0 lead. The second inning was scoreless by both squads. In the bottom of the third inning, Wisconsin tallied three more runs on four hits to go ahead 5-0. The Badgers then grabbed three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth and made it 8-0. In the top of the fifth inning with one out, the Rebels had back-to-back singles, and had two outs after
Rachel Cook reached on a fielder's choice. UNLV was then retired on a ground ball to the right side for the final out.

OTHER NOTES:
- For the weekend, Williams had a solid outing hitting a combined .692 (9-for-13) which included a home run and a team-high six RBI. She was additionally hit by a pitch three times throughout the weekend and drew one walk. Williams led the squad with a .923 slugging percentage and a .722 on-base percentage.
- Keyannah Chavez batted a combined .421 (8-for-19) for the weekend, which included two doubles, a home run and five RBI.
- Emma Wardlaw made four appearances in the circle for the Rebels with two starts. She pitched a combined 10.0 innings and only allowed two earned runs in her outings. Wardlaw held her opponents to a .250 batting average. She pitched a complete game shutout against Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 28.
- Aki has now extended her hitting streak to 11 straight games. She is also on a 14-game reached base streak.
- Calderon has now reached base in 13 straight games.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will be back on home turf to host the Red & Black Classic on Friday, March 6 - Sunday, March 8. UNLV will welcome LMU, North Dakota State and Utah Tech to Eller Media Stadium. The Scarlet & Gray will open the home tournament against Utah Tech on Friday, March 6 at 3 p.m. PT.
