LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team completed the comeback and earned a 4-3 victory over San Diego State in the series opener on Friday evening at Eller Media Stadium.

Rachel Cook led the UNLV (15-15, 2-2) offense going 2-for-2 at the plate against the Aztecs (17-12, 2-2) which included the bases-clearing triple that put the Rebels on top for the win. Cook additionally hit a double on the night and drew a walk.
Mantha Hatzenbeller was 1-for-2 on the night, which included a double, a walk and scored a run.
Charelle Aki hit her eighth homer of the season.
Lauren Fettic earned the win in relief for her seventh victory of the season.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: Both squads were held off the board through two innings, until San Diego State took a 1-0 lead in the top of third after taking advantage of a UNLV error. In the bottom of the fourth inning on a 1-0 count,
Charelle Aki went yard to tie the game 1-all. The fifth inning was scoreless, but the Aztecs grabbed two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead again 3-1. However, the Rebels rallied back in the bottom of the sixth.
Keyannah Chavez led things off with an infield single. With one out,
Diamond Sefe drew a five-pitch walk to give the Rebels runners on first and second. With two outs,
Mantha Hatzenbeller also drew a five-pitch walk to load the bases. On an 0-2 count,
Rachel Cook smacked a bases clearing triple to right, putting the Rebels ahead 4-3. In the top half of the seventh, SDSU hit a single up the middle to lead things off. However, after SDSU advanced the runner to second on a sacrifice bunt, UNLV collected the final two outs on a pop-up to left and ground ball to short to complete the comeback.
OTHER NOTES:
- Bri Williams was hit by a pitch, which marked the 13th of the season, tying the single-season program record. Williams has now reached base in 18 straight games.Â
- Gwyn Burnett stole her second base of the season.
- The Rebels out-hit the Aztecs 7-6.
- Natalie Turner also had a hit on the night.
- Sefe has reached base in eight consecutive games.
- Aki is now on a five-game on-base streak.
