LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team was unable to hold on and fell 13-7 against San Diego State in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium. The Rebels (16-16, 3-3) still collected the series 2-1 against the Aztecs (18-13, 3-3).

Keyannah Chavez and
Diamond Sefe all went 2-for-3 at the plate leading the UNLV offense. Chavez and
Charelle Aki led the Rebels in RBI each having two on the day. Sefe,
Mantha Hatzenbeller and
Rachel Cook all picked up an RBI against the Aztecs.
Bri Williams was 1-for-1 on the day with a run scored and was hit by a pitch twice. Williams now has 15 hit by pitches on the season, which marks a new single-season program record for the Scarlet & Gray.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: In the bottom of the first inning, the Rebels scored two runs thanks to a single up the middle by
Charelle Aki, 2-0. Both squads were held off the board in the second inning, but in the bottom of the third, UNLV scored a run after a Chavez single to right, 3-0. In the bottom of the fourth, the Rebels added two more runs on back-to-back sacrifice fly balls to center, 5-0. However, the Aztecs got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, tying the game 5-all after two home runs and a bases-clearing triple. The Rebels answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning to retake the lead with two runs after a single by Chavez and a single by Sefe, 7-5. The sixth inning was scoreless by both teams. In the top of the seventh inning, the Aztecs scored eight runs on eight hits to take a 13-7 lead. The Rebels had two runners on in the bottom of the seventh inning, but were retired on a strikeout and lined out to center for the final two outs.Â

OTHER NOTES:
- The Rebels had 10 hits on the day.
- Chavez and Sefe had the team's walks.
- For the series, four different Rebels hit .571 (4-for-7), which includes Williams, Chavez, Turner and Cook.
- Williams had a double, a home run and two RBI against SDSU and crossed the plate three times for UNLV.
- Chavez had a home run and three RBI for the Rebels. She also crossed the plate once.
- Cook had two doubles, a triple and was tied for the team-high in RBI with four.
- Lauren Fettic made an appearance in all three games including two starts. She collected the win on Friday night in relief.
- Williams has now extended her on-base streak to 20 straight games.
- Sefe is on a 10-game on-base streak.
- Aki and Turner have now reached base in seven consecutive games.
UP NEXT: UNLV will continue league play on the road visiting Fresno State on Friday, March 27 - Sunday, March 29. The Rebels and Bulldogs will open the series on Friday, March 27 at 6 p.m. at Margie Wright Diamond.
