Opening Day For Football!

The second edition of Spring Practice under head coach Dan Mullen at UNLV kicked off Thursday under above-average temperatures at Rebel Park.

The first of 15 practices got underway at 8:30 a.m. with a full roster of 95 players in uniform outside of the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

A host of invited visitors lined the sidelines to see a slew of newcomers wearing the Scarlet & Gray for the first time, including new quarterback Jackson Arnold who transferred from Auburn. The media interviewed Mullen and then returning four-year star running back Jai'Den "Jet" Thomas as the Georgia native looks to move up the Rebel record books.

"It's fun -- it's exciting to be out here," Mullen told the media scrum after the two-hour opening session. "We don't have pads on so we'll be even more excited on Monday when that happens. Fun to be back doing football. So many new faces -- I'm sure they're excited to get going again. The season didn't end the way we wanted it to. We have much bigger goals than where we finished last year. We have to really work on finishing better. I want all the UNLV fans to come to games and leave saying 'That team plays hard and loves football and they keep getting better."

The team will be back on the field on Saturday for Practice No. 2.

While practices are closed ot the public, all fans are invited to the free Spring Game set for on campus on April 25, with more details to come.
