Lady Rebels Secure No. 2 MW Seed After 76-47 Victory Over Boise State

Shelbee Brown collected a season-high 22 points to lead UNLV; Sydni Summers also had a season-high of 14 points

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Lady Rebels secured the No. 2 seed in the Mountain West tournament after a dominant 76-47 victory over Boise State on Wednesday evening at The Pavilion.
 
Shelbee Brown dropped a season-high 22 points to lead UNLV (20-10, 15-5) and had a team-high 16 rebounds, for her ninth double-double of the season. Meadow Roland was the second-leading scorer with 15 points, while Sydni Summers collected a season-high of 14 points. Summers led the squad in three-pointers, shooting 4-for-9 from long range.
 
Boise State (23-8, 14-6) was led by Libby Hutton's 12 points and was tied for the team-high in rebounds with five. Natalie Pasco also had five rebounds.
 
HOT START: The Lady Rebels and Broncos exchanged baskets before UNLV scored eight straight points to take an 11-4 lead. Boise State cut the deficit to five with a bucket, but UNLV then went on a 9-2 run to go up by double-digits, 20-8 after just 10 minutes. UNLV kept it rolling and went on a 15-4 run in the second quarter and made it 35-12 and never gave up the double-digit lead.
 
STAT OF THE GAME: The Lady Rebels only allowed the Broncos to shoot 29.3% (17-of-58) for the game, while the Scarlet & Gray shot 40.3% (25-of-62).
 
OTHER NOTES:
  • Alexis Swillis and Destiny Brown each had one block on the night.
  • The Lady Rebels dished 15 assists and were led by Aaliyah Alexander and Summers who each had three.
  • UNLV won the paint party 32-22.
  • The Scarlet & Gray forced the Broncos to commit 14 turnovers and scored 15 points off them.
  • UNLV had eight steals against Boise State and were led by Roland and Destiny Brown each collecting three.
  • Boise State's bench out-shot UNLV's bench by two points, 26-24. 
UP NEXT: The Lady Rebels will stay in town for the Mountain West Conference Tournament at the Thomas & Mack beginning on Saturday, March 7. UNLV is the No. 2 seed heading into the tournament and will have a first-round bye and play on Sunday, March 8 at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 7 Fresno State vs. No. 10 UNR.
