Drew Barragan has been named a D1Baseball Midseason Second Team All-American, it was announced on Wednesday.
Barragan sits in the top ten in Division I baseball in seven offense categories, including first in triples (6) and tied for first in hits (53). The Trabuco Canyon, California native also sits second in the nation in batting average (.473) and hits per game (1.89), and ranks in the top ten in total bases (97 - 6th), runs per game (1.46 - 8th) and slugging percentage (.866 - 9th). Additionally, the Western Kentucky transfer ranks first in the Mountain West in RBI per game (1.39) and 24th in the nation, tops the MW in RBI (39 - 22nd in Division 1) and sits 18th in the country in on-base percentage (.545).
Barragan has started all 28 games he has played in with 18 starts at third base, nine at designated hitter and one at shortstop. Delving deeper, he has tallied team-highs in OPS (1.411), at-bats (112) and home runs (7). The veteran has a base hit in 26 of his 28 games with 17 multi-hit games, eight games on three or more hits and a pair of four-hit games. Barragan currently has a 14-game hitting streak where he has tallied 29 hits and 13 RBI.Â
