LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program hosts the third annual UNLV Rebel ELITE at Myron Partridge Stadium & Sheila Tarr-Smith Field Friday through Saturday. The two-day meet features 13 programs, including eight Division I programs. Furthermore, nationally ranked Oregon will make an appearance in the Silver State.
The UNLV Rebel ELITE consists of eight field events and 11 more on the track. The meet gets underway at 9:30 am with the hammer throw, which will follow an official team welcome, a recognition of Rebel seniors and the National Anthem. The 5000m caps the day's slate of action at 6:35 pm. Day two will open up at 11 am with the pole vault and 4x100m Relay and will conclude with the 4x400m Relay at 4:40 pm.
LAST TIME OUT: UNLV track and field participated in the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and the Jim Bush Legends Meet by collecting a pair of top-two finishes in the with the 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay along with an individual win on the track at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles, California. At the Jim Bush Legends Meet, the 4x100-meter relay team of Victoria Perrow, KayVeonna Jackson, AnnaKay Maitland and Mikah Scott blazed to a second-place finish in 44.00 seconds, the third-fastest time in program history. Perrow also delivered a standout performance in the 100 meters, winning the event in 11.32 seconds. Jackson added a fifth-place finish in 11.65, giving UNLV two top-five sprinters in the final.
REBEL NOTES:
- Overall, UNLV student-athletes are ranked a total of 19 times in the top 10 of Mountain West events.
- Victoria Perrow (100m), Taryn Bailey (800m) and both the 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay teams
lead the Mountain West.
- Perrow and Jaci Wright sit second in the 200m and 100m hurdles, respectively.
- Roxene Simpson is third in the discus throw.
