LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team will continue their outdoor campaign with a pair of meets over the week in the Golden State with both the Beach Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational April 17-18.
The Bryan Clay Invitational will take place on the campus of Azusa Pacific at the Cougar Athletics Stadium in Azusa, California. Furthermore, the Beach Invitational will take place on the campus of Long Beach State at the Jack Rose Track in Long Beach. The Rebels will see sprinters and throwers competing at the Beach Invitational, while the Bryan Clay Invitational will see a handful of distance runners compete.
LAST TIME OUT: The Rebels secured seven personal bests at the UNLV Rebel ELITE April 3-4. Additionally, the trio of
Victoria Perrow,
Aine McDade and
Roxene Simpson took home first place in the 100m (11.06 - wind aided), 1500m (5:08.30) and discus throw (48.99m/160' 8").
MOUNTAIN WEST LEADERS: The Rebels have a handful of student-athletes positioned in the top 10 in the Mountain West rankings. Perrow (11.32) and
KayVeonna Jackson (11.65) are first and tied for eighth in the 100m, while Jackson ranks fifth in the 200m (23.59) and Perrow sits ninth (23.67). Additionally,
Jaci Wright's time of 13.67 in the 100m Hurdles is fourth overall.
Roxene Simpson is fourth in the discus throw (52.85m/173' 5"),
Kayli Middleton ranks fifth in the triple jump (12.33m/40' 5.5"),
Amaya Mitchell-Howard ranks sixth in the hammer throw (55.42m/181' 10") and
Sophia Clark sits ninth in the discus throw (47.23m/154' 11"). The trio of
Kaitlynn Webbe (400m - 54.32),
Taryn Bailey (800m - 2:10.20) and
Gabby Goodgames (100m Hurdles - 14.10) all sit 10th overall.
