LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV super soph
Ilia Snitari has been named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Wednesday.
Snitari, a native of Moldova, is now 27-2 on the season and 35-2 as a Rebel after winning his latest singles match in UNLV's 4-0 win at New Mexico on Saturday. He is 4-0 vs. conference foes after doing something that no one had done in more than four years, beating a No. 1 Lobos player in Albuquerque. His straight-setter broke the Lobos' 30-match win streak at the top of the singles lineup -- dating back to Jan. 23, 2022.
An All-American who is ranked 65th in the nation, Snitari was also honored on January 28 and February 11. Last year's MW Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year also picked up one player of the week nod in 2025.
The No. 70 Rebels (13-6) close out their regular season schedule on Saturday with a match at No. 69 Boise State.
