PHOENIX, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV softball team's seventh inning rally came up short as the Scarlet & Gray fell 4-2 in the series finale against Grand Canyon on a windy Sunday afternoon at GCU Softball Stadium.

Mantha Hatzenbeller led the Rebels (28-20, 15-7) at the plate against the Lopes (45-7, 18-4) going 2-for-3 including a two-run home run.
Keyannah Chavez was 1-for-2 on the day and had a walk.
Diamond Sefe,
Rachel Cook and
Lyla Gonzalez each were 1-for-3 at the plate.
Lauren Fettic tied her career-high in strikeouts with nine against GCU.

HOW IT WENT DOWN: After four and half scoreless innings, the Lopes got on the board first in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring four runs on three hits, 4-0. Both squads were held off the board in the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh inning,
Presley Barnes was hit by a pitch to give UNLV a runner on first. On a 2-1 count,
Mantha Hatzenbeller roped a ball over the right field wall to get UNLV with two, 4-2.
Rachel Cook then singled up the middle. With one out, the Rebels drew a five-pitch walk. However, UNLV was doubled up to the end game in favor of GCU.

OTHER NOTES:
- Bri Williams had a walk against the Lopes.
- For the series, Hatzenbeller batted a combined .500 (4-for-8) including a double, home run and two RBI.
- Chavez batted a combined .429 (3-for-7) for the series. She had a home run and an RBI. Chavez is now on a 19-game reached base streak.
- Fettic went 1-1 in the circle for the Rebels against the Lopes. She pitched 15.0 innings and struck out a combined 18 batters. Fettic had a combined ERA of 2.80.
- Sefe has now reached base in 15 straight games.
- Gonzalez is on a nine-game on-base streak.
UP NEXT: The Scarlet & Gray will close out the regular season hosting UNR for the final Mountain West series and senior weekend beginning on Thursday, April 30 and concluding on Saturday, May 2. The Rebels and Wolf Pack will open the series on Thursday, April 30 at 6 p.m. at Eller Media Stadium. This series is part of the Silver State Series presented by America First.
