LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV redshirt senior outfielder Nin Burns II has been named the final Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced today. This marked the first weekly honor for Burns II this season and the second for UNLV.

The Covina, California native helped the Scarlet & Gray win two out of three games against regular season champions San Diego State to earn the No. 6 seed at the MW Championship. Burns II batted .583 (7-for-12) with two home runs, one double, four RBI, 14 total bases and scored four runs. He recorded a 1.167 slugging percentage and a .583 on-base percentage.

In the series opener on Thursday, Burns II went 1-for-3 with a single against the Aztecs. The right fielder earned a 2-for-4 effort in game two where he hit his ninth home run of the season and notched a single. In the series finale, Burns II collected his 10th home run of the season, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, one double and two singles, recording eight total bases and scoring three runs, and was a triple away from the cycle.
 

UP NEXT: The Rebels will head to Mesa, Arizona for the Credit Union 1 MW Baseball Championship beginning Thursday, May 21. UNLV is the No. 6 seed in the tournament and faces No. 3 seed Air Force in the play-in game.
