UNLV Athletics Receives Anonymous $1 Million Gift To Establish Scholarship Endowment

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Athletics has received an anonymous $1 million gift to establish an endowment supporting student-athlete scholarships, Director of Athletics Erick Harper announced Wednesday.

"This transformational gift will provide a lasting impact for generations of UNLV student-athletes," Harper said. "We are incredibly grateful to the donors for their generosity, commitment and belief in the future of the Rebels."

The endowed fund will provide ongoing scholarship support for UNLV student-athletes, helping them pursue academic and athletic excellence while preparing for success beyond their collegiate careers. The gift also supports the priorities of the $150 million "Rebel Up" comprehensive capital campaign, which launched in October 2023.

Endowed gifts provide a permanent source of support for UNLV Athletics, with annual distributions from the fund helping offset scholarship expenses and strengthen the department's ability to recruit, retain and graduate outstanding student-athletes.

"Our coaches, staff and student-athletes are deeply appreciative of this remarkable investment," Harper continued. "Scholarship support is central to our mission of graduating leaders, winning championships and excelling in all that we do. This endowment will help ensure that future Rebels have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in the classroom, in competition and in life."

UNLV continues to thrive as an institution, and contributions from donors help propel the university to new heights in the education and care of its students. Student success remains at the forefront of the university's mission to provide a comprehensive and holistic experience for all students.

"We are grateful to the UNLV Athletics Revenue Generation Team, led by Executive Deputy AD for Revenue Generation Mike Ketcham, for continuing to build meaningful relationships with supporters who share our vision for the future of UNLV Athletics," Harper added.

As the "Rebel Up" campaign continues to build momentum, UNLV Athletics is asking all Rebels to support the student-athletes who represent the university in the classroom, in competition and throughout the community.
