PHOENIX (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's soccer team (3-4-3, 1-0-1 MW) stole a road point with a 1-1 draw at Grand Canyon (4-2-4, 0-0-1 MW) to remain unbeaten in Mountain West play Sunday at GCU Stadium.
Battling 1-0 deficit from GCU's 58th-minute score, sophomore captain
Ana De Los Santos capitalized on the Rebels' 82nd-minute PK for her first goal of the season after sophomore defender Madison earned a foul in the box upon VAR review.
GCU threatened to score again on an 88th-minute set piece, but sophomore goalkeeper
Riley Hodson came up with the save to secure the Scarlet & Gray's four-point opening weekend of MW competition. The stop gave Hodson the edge over GCU in the save department as she doubled up the Lopes by making a game-high four saves in the full 90 minutes.
With the result, UNLV stretched its current unbeaten streak to four matches dating back to non-conference play.
STAT OF THE GAME: Going against a stingy Lopes backline that didn't provide many Rebel scoring opportunities, De Los Santos led the squad's attack with two of its three shots on goal. Along with her goal, the other target she put on frame came in the third minute. Junior defender
Makena Siaki provided the other UNLV shot on goal, but it ultimately was turned away by a GCU defender.

UP NEXT: UNLV will take its momentum on the road again next weekend for a 7 p.m. contest at San Jose State on Saturday, Oct. 3.
NOTES:
- UNLV opens the MW schedule unbeaten through the first two games for the second straight season. Along with Sunday's draw in Phoenix, UNLV began MW action with a win over UTEP at home.
- Out of the Rebels 10 matches during the 2026 campaign, nine of them have now been decided by one goal or less.
- De Los Santos is the eighth Rebel to net a goal this season.
- As a team, the Scarlet & Gray improved to 3-for-3 on penalty kick attempts during the 2026 campaign.
