LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV senior quarterback
Jackson Arnold has earned Honorable Mention Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week, organizers announced Tuesday.
Arnold (Denton, Texas) threw three touchdowns en route to helping the Rebels to a 38-10 win at Akron on Saturday, which tied for the largest road win over a non-conference opponent in school history.
Arnold, who transferred to UNLV from Auburn, completed 17-of-29 pass attempts for 290 yards and also rushed for 28 net yards on seven carries. Two of his scoring throws went to running back
Jet Thomas (40 yards and 2 yards) for the team's first 14 points while he found
Taz Reddicks on a 59-yard bomb in the third quarter.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive players in the nation who either played at and graduated from a Texas high school or is currently playing at a Division One school in the Lone Star State. Arnold starred at Denton's Guyer High School before signing with Oklahoma to begin his career.
