BOISE, Idaho (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team struggled to find a consistent offensive rhythm Friday night, falling to Boise State 25-22, 25-19, 25-16 at ExtraMile Arena at the Boise State Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED: UNLV (0-4) finished the night with 37 kills on 115 attacks while hitting .096 as a team. Boise State (3-2) recorded 40 kills on 101 attempts and hit .267, with the Broncos' offensive efficiency proving to be a difference-maker throughout the match. Boise State also held a 15-2 advantage in total blocks.
Jaida Harris paced the Rebels offensively with a match-high 12 kills, accounting for nearly one-third of UNLV's total kills. Harris recorded her 12 kills on 32 swings and added eight digs as she provided one of the Rebels' most consistent offensive options. Basia Latos contributed eight kills, and by doing so, recorded her 500th career kill. Rheanna Deen-Jackson finished with seven kills and was particularly efficient offensively, hitting .385 on 13 attacks. Jada Ingram added three kills and a service ace, while Cami Christiansen recorded four kills.
Kamryn Scroggins led the Rebels with 20 assists, helping UNLV finish with 36 assists as a team. Alexa Ankerstar added eight assists, while Scroggins also contributed six digs defensively. UNLV's defense was led by Arrie Brown, who finished with a match-high 13 digs. Scroggins and Latos each recorded six digs. The Rebels finished with 43 digs compared with 44 for Boise State.
The Broncos' advantage came primarily through their efficiency at the attack line and their ability to disrupt UNLV's offense at the net. Boise State committed fewer attack errors and finished with three more kills despite attempting 14 fewer attacks. The Broncos were led offensively by Sydney Dreves, who recorded nine kills, while Azlynn Tittmann added eight and Kendall Hastings finished with seven. Hastings also contributed four blocks as the Broncos consistently made it difficult for UNLV to terminate points. The Scarlet & Gray finished with two service aces, with Ingram and Sloan Cleveland each recording one. Boise State had four aces, including two from Dreves.
