Biography

UNLV: A highly decorated local standout quarterback with an impressive arm who graduated high school as the Silver State’s all-time passing king (since surpassed) and is the Rebels’ returning starter at his position in 2020 … The first player to ever join the Rebels on scholarship after graduating early from high school … Tied a UNLV record by throwing multiple touchdowns in five straight games last fall, matching Omar Clayton’s sophomore run of five games in 2008 … Named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week Dec. 2, Oblad was also voted the winner of the Bill Ireland Award for 2019-20, an honor that goes to the UNLV student-athlete who shines brightest in a victory against in-state rival UNR as part of the Silver State Series presented by IBEW Local 401 and Nevada Donor Network.

2019: Earned his first letter as a Rebel by playing in 11 games, including starting the final eight … Threw at least one TD in all eight starts and multiple scores in all but one of those games … His 2,081 yards passing ranked third in program history by a freshman and his 18 touchdown passes ranked fifth in the nation among freshmen … TD total also ranked fifth in school history overall and second among freshmen … Despite not starting the first four games, his average of 189.2 yards per game ranked ninth among all FBS freshmen … Began his redshirt freshman year backing up incumbent Armani Rogers and came in to complete 7-of-11 attempts for 59 yards in season-opener vs. SUU … Also completed all three of his pass attempts coming off the bench vs. Arkansas State the following week, including picking up his first collegiate touchdown pass on a 56-yard throw-and-catch to WR Randal Grimes … After not seeing action at Northwestern, Oblad spelled a banged up Rogers for the entire second half vs. Wyoming and went on to start the remainder of the season (only missing two snaps vs. SJSU) … His first career start came in Week Five vs. No. 15 Boise State when Oblad completed 24 of 55 attempts for 262 yards and two TDs … The 55 attempts were the fifth-most in school history and second-most by a freshman … Earned his first career victory the following week by leading UNLV to a 34-10 upset win at Vanderbilt that marked the program’s first at an SEC opponent and first over any Power Five team since 2008 … Coolly completed 11 of 16 attempts for 172 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers to help stun the Commodores … Tossed three touchdowns vs. Fresno State the next week and then two each the next two outings vs. SDSU and at CSU … His streak came to an end when he threw just one score vs. Hawai’i … Completed 21 of 36 attempts for 203 yards and a pair of TDs in a victory over SJSU in the home finale … Closed his impressive campaign by going 16-22 for 229 yards, three touchdowns and zero turnovers in thrilling victory in Reno … Completed the first 13 of his 14 attempts vs. the Wolf Pack and ended up breaking the school record for pass completion percentage in a game by a freshman with 72.7 … After UNR rallied to send the game to overtime and then took its first lead of the day with a field goal, Oblad completed all three of his attempts in OT, including finding fellow-frosh Steve Jenkins for a game-winning 19-yard touchdown pass in the 33-30 final that earned Oblad conference player of the week honors.

2018: Redshirted season by only playing in one game under new NCAA rules … Made one appearance, relieving Max Gilliam vs. No. 20 Fresno State … Completed one of his five attempts, a seven-yarder to Andre Collins … Enrolled in January and competed in spring practice … Rated a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports … Ranked the No. 7 and No. 9 prospect in the state of Nevada by 247Sports and Rivals, respectively.

HIGH SCHOOL: A December 2017 graduate of Liberty HS … A four-year starter at QB for the perennial power under coach Rich Muraco … Led the Patriots to a 44-9 record as a starter and four straight Sunrise Region championships … Finished career as Nevada’s all-time leading passer with 11,828 yards, completing 718 of 1,220 career attempts with 116 touchdown passes … Three-time All-State quarterback selection (2015, 2016, 2017) … Two-time Sunrise Region SE Division Offensive MVP (2016, 2017) … Three-time Sunrise Region SE Division First Team honoree (2015, 2016, 2017) … Three-time LHS Team MVP (2015, 2016, 2017) … Completed 169-of-309 passes for 2,699 yards and 28 touchdowns during senior campaign in 2017 … As a junior in 2016, threw for a career-high 3,784 yards with 38 touchdowns … During sophomore season in 2015, posted 3,106 yards and 34 touchdowns passes … In first year as a freshman in 2014, threw for 2,239 yards with a 16 touchdown passes.
