The Runnin' Rebels ran away with a 106-85 victory over the CTG Knights in UNLV's second game of its #RebelSummer16 Bahamas Tour on Tuesday.
The game was competitive through the first 14 minutes of the game. The Rebels held a 23-20 lead after the first quarter when Jalen Poser made two free throws to end the stanza. The Knights came back and grabbed a 30-29 with 7:18 left in the first half. UNLV then went on a 17-6 run over the next three minutes to take a 10 point lead. At the end of the first half, the Runnin' Rebels held an 11 point advantage, leading 56-45.
Kris Clyburn was a man on a mission early in the second half as he hit back-to-back three pointers to open the third quarter and added another bucket to give him eight points within the first three minutes of the quarter. Clyburn would lead the Rebels in scoring with 21 points in the game. He finished the game 8-for-10 and also was able to track down eight rebounds.
The Runnin' Rebels led by as much as 25 in the fourth quarter as they were able to capture their first win on the Bahamas Tour. Christian Jones turned in a double-double as he scored 16 points and brought down 14 rebounds in the game. Poyser finished the game with 17 points and Tyrell Green and Uche Ofoegbu added 14 and 12 points, respectively, in the effort.
The trip, made possible because of funding by the Runnin' Rebel Club, will continue through the week. Wednesday will be a day off.
UNLV will be back in action vs. the Providence Storm on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 2 pm PT.
