Eric Brown is in his second season at UNLV coaching the outside linebackers under defensive coordinator Tim Skipper. Brown joined the Rebels as the program’s 10th assistant in 2018 after coaching linebackers at Idaho the previous five seasons.Â
Brown has mentored several standout linebackers in his young career, which earned him an AFCA 30 under 30 honor in 2016 - a distinction given to college football’s brightest up-and-coming stars of the coaching world. Under his tutelage at Idaho, Brown had at least one All-Sun Belt linebacker selected in each of the last three seasons, including three all-conference selections in 2017.
Before joining the Vandals, Brown coached for one year under former UNLV head coach Mike Sanford at FCS program Indiana State. In Terre Haute, Brown was the outside linebackers coach. Among the players under his guidance were two players ranked in the top three in the Missouri Valley Football Conference and top 25 in the FCS in tackles per game and one Freshman All-America linebacker.
The son of the late longtime Fresno State assistant and defensive coordinator Dan Brown, Eric played for and graduated from Fresno State. Following his playing career, he served as a student assistant and became a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs after earning his bachelor’s degree in 2011.
Brown and his wife, Carrie, welcomed their first child in August 2018.Â
