Joining UNLV in 2020, former Rebel letterman Matt Vinal is a graduate assistant coach on defense. 

Vinal appeared in all 26 games at UNLV during the 2013 and ’14 seasons and totaled 69 tackles at safety and on special teams after signing with the school out of the College of San Mateo. 

Following his collegiate career, Vinal played professionally for the Las Vegas Outlaws of the Arena Football League and then overseas for three seasons. Earning his bachelor’s degree from UNLV in 2015, his coaching career started in 2016 at his alma mater, Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo.
