UNLV football head coach Tony Sanchez officially announced the hiring of Ryan McNamee as the program’s new Director of Football Operations on April 15, 2019.
McNamee joined the Rebels after spending the previous three seasons in the same role at Cornell University. Before joining the Ivy League program, he was Director of Player Development at Miami (Fla.) for five years after having served previously on the staffs at Temple and Villanova.
In all, McNamee has mentored six AFCA Good Works Team members, as well as more than 80 NFL players. His teams played in three bowl games.
McNamee and his wife, Valerie, have two sons, Danial and Logan. He earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania in 1999 and a master's in health and physical education in 2000 from Adams State in Colorado while serving as a graduate assistant coach. McNamee was a four-year letterwinner at Gettysburg as a linebacker and tight end and later coached football and baseball for one season at his alma mater.
