Josh Hewitt joined UNLV in 2020 as assistant director of athletic equipment to work with the Rebel football program.
Certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association since 2015, Hewitt came to Las Vegas after three seasons in a similar role at fellow-Mountain West member Fresno State where he worked with football and five other Bulldog sports.
Previous to that, he spent three years as Director of Equipment Operations at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
A former football player himself, Hewitt was a four-year starter at NAIA Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, and earned his bachelor’s degree in sports sciences from the school in 2012. From 2005-11 he was an equipment aide for the NFL’s St. Louis Rams and was a member of the MLB’s Kansas City Royals grounds crew from 2010-14. Â
