Andre LaFleur is in his third season as an assistant coach with the UNLV men's basketball program.

After completing his first season with the Runnin' Rebels, he helped bring in a recruiting class for the 2017-18 season that was ranked as high as No. 12 in the country and included McDonald's High School All-American Brandon McCoy and National Junior College Player of the Year Shakur Juiston.

The 2017-18 team won 20 games, which marked the first 20-victory campaign for UNLV in four years. It was also a nine-game improvement in the win column over the previous season.

With LaFleur's involvement the team has also performed academically, setting program records with a 3.17 grade point average for Spring 2018 and back-to-back semesters with a collective GPA of at least 3.0.

LaFleur came to Las Vegas after serving as the associate head coach at Providence under Ed Cooley for the previous five seasons, and for 10 years prior to that he held a variety of positions on the coaching staff at Connecticut under Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun.

Providence played in the postseason in each of his last four years on the staff, including the last three in the NCAA Tournament. Led by All-America point guard Kris Dunn, the Friars advanced to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

Dunn was taken with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

At UConn, LaFleur helped the Huskies capture two national championships (2004 and 2011) and record a 258-88 mark (.764). The team also went to a Sweet 16 and an Elite 8 during his time on the staff, which was the most successful era in program history. LaFleur started at UConn in 2001 and spent three seasons as the team's director of basketball operations. In 2005, he was promoted to assistant coach and was promoted again in 2006 by being named the team's recruiting coordinator.

LaFleur was instrumental in bringing in Hasheem Thabeet and Kemba Walker among others to UConn. Thabeet was the 2009 Big East Player of the Year, the 2009 National Defensive Player of the Year and the No. 2 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, while Walker was the No. 9 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

As a standout point guard in college, LaFleur played for Calhoun at Northeastern. He led the team to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years and during that time, the Huskies registered a 102-26 mark, including an ECAC North Atlantic conference record of 60-6.

LaFleur became the all-time NCAA Division I assist leader as a senior in 1987 (894 assists). He was drafted by the Houston Rockets of the NBA, then played and coached professionally overseas for 11 seasons.

LaFleur earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Northeastern in 2001.

A native of Los Angeles, Calif., LaFleur and his wife Alana have two sons, Adrian and Adonis.
