Prior to his time at New Mexico State, Daniels served as a graduate assistant and video coordinator for Cleveland State from 2012-14. He was in charge of all video needs for the program including video editing and creating opponent scouting reports. He also served as Camp Director for the Gary Waters Youth Basketball Camps.

In two years at Cleveland State, the team achieved 35 wins including one postseason appearance and finished second in the Horizon League in 2014.

Prior to arriving at CSU, Daniels worked as a student manager at Ohio State from 2008-12. He was the head manager his final year, working home and away games. He was in charge of organizing and leading 14 managers who helped ensure that all logistical aspects of practice and games were organized. Daniels also assisted with film and video operations, including film exchange, video editing, and scouting.

During his time at Ohio State, Daniels was part of three Big Ten regular season and two tournament titles, as well as four NCAA tournament appearances, including one Final Four. He has experience as a camp instructor and director at Ohio State and also served as a camp counselor and supervisor for the Cleveland Cavaliers Youth Basketball Camps since 2010.
