DeShawn Henry, entering his eighth year at UNLV, is an accomplished athletics administrator, coach, and strategic operations leader with extensive experience in NCAA Division I athletics and the national basketball landscape.
Promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Men's Basketball Operations in summer 2026, Henry oversees all operational aspects of the UNLV men's basketball program, including budget management, scheduling, team travel, facilities, student-athlete support, and Mountain West Conference coordination.
Throughout his career, Henry has managed multimillion-dollar budgets, negotiated high-profile game contracts, coordinated complex travel and event logistics, and implemented operational systems designed to support coaches, student-athletes, and administrators.
Prior to his work at UNLV, Henry played a significant role in the national grassroots basketball landscape, directing operations and stakeholder engagement for premier tournaments and showcases, including the Super 64, Uprising Series, and Gauntlet Series. These events attracted tens of thousands of athletes, coaches, and spectators annually and involved corporate partnerships, marketing initiatives, and large-scale event operations. His experience has helped him establish strong relationships throughout the basketball industry, including with organizations such as adidas, Gatorade, Nike, the NCAA, and the NBA.
Henry's commitment to basketball extends well beyond collegiate athletics. A longtime advocate for the Las Vegas basketball community, he has dedicated much of his career to mentoring young athletes, developing future leaders, and creating opportunities for personal and athletic growth. During his tenure at Durango High School, he was named a Nike Elite Ambassador and coached a nationally recognized program, helping numerous student-athletes advance to the collegiate level.
A 1998 graduate of UNLV, Henry brings both professional expertise and a personal connection to the university. His institutional pride, extensive basketball relationships, and commitment to student-athlete development continue to strengthen the UNLV men's basketball program and its ties to the Las Vegas community.
