Pete Link

Pete Link was hired as UNLV Athletics' Head Strength and Conditioning Coach during the Spring of 2020. He works with the Rebel men'sĀ basketball and volleyball programs.

Before coming to Las Vegas, he completed his 12th year with the Iowa State Athletics Department in 2019-20 and his fourthĀ season as the director of strength and conditioning for men's basketball. Link spentĀ four seasons as the strength and conditioning coach for the Cyclone women's basketball team before moving to the men's side.

The 2018-19 Cyclones returned to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big 12 Tournament for the second time in Link's three seasons with the program. ISU finished 23-12 overall, winning six games against top-25 teams, including road wins against nationally ranked Texas Tech, Ole Miss and Kansas State.

Four Cyclones captured All-Big 12 accolades with Marial ShayokĀ being named a first-team selection and later an All-American.

In 2017-18, Link's second with the men's team, ISU collected three more wins against the nation's top 25, including an 18-point win against No. 8 Texas Tech that ranked as the program's largest margin of victory against a top-10 foe. The Cyclones won the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at Myrtle Beach, with Nick Weiler-Babb taking home most valuable player honors.

Three Cyclones earned All-Big 12 honors and Lindell WiggintonĀ was named to the USBWAĀ All-District team as a freshman.

In his first season working with the men, Iowa State went 24-11 overall, won the Big 12 Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cyclones also finished 12-6 in Big 12 Conference play, which included a win at No. 3 Kansas toĀ snapĀ its 51-game win streak at Allen Fieldhouse.

MontéĀ Morris earned All-America honors and was an All-Big 12 First Team pick in 2017, while three other Cyclones also earned all-conference honors.

Link has spent the majority of his professional career working at Iowa State. He alsoĀ worked with school's football team and a number of Olympic sports programs at ISU.

While working with the Cyclone women’s basketball program, Link saw the team advance to the NCAA Tournament in three of his four seasons. He developed and monitored all physical preparation workouts and constructed individual workouts based on each athlete’s needs.

Link worked closely with the men’s program in October and November of 2015 on an interim basis and traveled with the Cyclone men to Spain in August of that year.

Before being named Iowa State’s assistant director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports in 2008, Link was a graduate assistant strength coach at Utah.

The Farley, Iowa, nativeĀ earned his bachelor of science in health and human performance from Iowa State in 2007. As an undergrad he was an intern with the Iowa State football team, the Iowa Cubs and Iowa State’s Olympic sports programs.

Link holds the following certifications First Aid/CPR/AED, CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), RSCC (Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach) and Pn1 (Precision Nutrition Level 1).
