Jason Frank joined the student-athlete academic services team in October 2022. He provides academic support for the UNLV softball and men’s soccer programs. In addition to his duties with SAAS, he works as a public address announcer for UNLV baseball and softball.
Frank returned to UNLV, where he earned his master’s degree in 2008, following experiences in student-athlete academic support at the University of Wyoming, University of South Florida, Grand Canyon University, and Chicago State University.
In 2021-2022, Frank served as associate athletic director for student services and academics at Chicago State, overseeing all aspects of student services for CSU student-athletes and contributing as a member of the athletic department’s senior staff and executive leadership team. Prior to his time in the Windy City, Frank spent six years in Phoenix at Grand Canyon University, where he worked his way from associate director of student-athlete development to assistant athletic director for student-athlete development. He worked with the baseball, softball, and women’s basketball programs at GCU, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student-Athlete Development and eventually becoming part of the athletic department’s senior staff.
From 2010-2015, Frank worked as an academic coordinator and tutoring coordinator in the athletic department at the University of South Florida. He advised football, softball, and baseball during his time in Tampa. Prior to USF, he worked for two years (2008-2010) as academic coordinator/tutor coordinator in the University of Wyoming athletic department.
Frank earned his master's degree in sport and leisure services management from UNLV in 2008. His graduate research focused on intercollegiate athletics and culminated in a thesis titled, "The athletic, academic, and social experiences of female intercollegiate team sport student-athletes." At UNLV, Frank tutored student-athletes and assisted the student-athlete academic services staff.
Frank earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education, with a double-major in English and Speech (broadcast emphasis), from Central Michigan University, where he was a relief pitcher on the baseball team. He made a career-high 11 appearances in 2001 and recorded a save against Michigan State.
From 2000-05, Frank worked as an on-air personality at WCFX-FM in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. In 2005, he coached junior varsity baseball at Heritage High School in Saginaw, Michigan, before teaching English and coaching girls basketball at Molasky Junior High School in Las Vegas in 2005-06.
An active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) since 2010, Frank served as the Chair of the N4A Research Committee from 2012-2014. During his five years in Tampa, he led the Central Michigan University-Tampa Bay Alumni Club, coordinating events for area alumni. From 2017-2026, he held the role of volunteer coordinator for the Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s basketball tournaments in Las Vegas, organizing and overseeing a team of 30 volunteers comprised mainly of students from WAC schools.
Frank also currently serves on the board of directors for ALS of Nevada, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care and support for Nevadans living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families, while striving to help find a cure for the disease.
Frank lives in Henderson with his wife, Jen, and stepdaughters Marlee and Alexa. His son, Kason, is a student at the University of Michigan-Flint.
