Amie Callaway has returned to her alma mater, as the former Lady Rebel standout became the team's Director of Basketball Operations in August of 2020.
"We are so excited to welcome Amie back to our Lady Rebels family as our Director of Basketball Operations!", said UNLV head coach Lindy La Rocque. "Her work experience coupled with her knowledge of UNLV as a former Lady Rebel make her a perfect fit with our staff. Amie is a hard worker and very detailed-oriented, I'm eager for her to help elevate our program to new heights."
"I am beyond thrilled and grateful to be a part of the Lady Rebel staff under Coach La Rocque," said Callaway. "Her resume, both as a player and a coach, honestly speaks for itself. She knows what it takes for this program to excel, and I'm thankful to be a part of it. I was afforded so many amazing opportunities as a student-athlete while I was here at UNLV, and now for that to continue as a professional, it's such an exciting "full circle" moment."
Callaway moved over to the women's basketball program after first coming back to Las Vegas and UNLV in May of 2019 to work as an admission counselor in the UNLV Office of Admissions. Prior to her return, she was on the staff for the Cal women's basketball team as Assistant Director of Operations, starting in December of 2017 until she left for UNLV. In that role, she helped coordinate community service and outreach programs, planned pre and post game events for the team and fans, while also assisting in recruiting efforts.
The only player in UNLV history to both play in and start a game while still 17, Callaway had an impressive four-year career for the Lady Rebels from 2012-16. She was also an excellent student, earning Academic All-Mountain West honors all four years as well as MW Scholar-Athlete recognition in June 2013. She received her bachelor's degree in hospitality management from UNLV in May of 2016, and her MBA with a focus in sport management from San Diego State in June of 2018.
